Brainiac: Science Abuse January 15, 2006

A new series of Brainiac begins but I’m afraid I still find it very hit and miss. At best the show takes serious science and is seriously original in it’s fun approach. This episode was not it though. Within the first part I’d seen three or four ‘experiements’ that were absolutely pointless. Making a swing do a 360? yes of course you need more force, but did it explain anything useful? No. And heatingup liquid nitrogen in a microwave so that it expands and explodes? Interesting fact, and yes I doubt kids will forget it, but you know the producers just did it for pyrotechnics. And sticking bits of bread on semi naked men to see which spread is the most sticky? Please have a point! Most of the time I’ve got better things to do.
