Meet the Fockers (2004) December 19, 2005

Not as bad as I’d thought and certainly better than the original. I just can’t do excrutiatingly unfair comedy. It’s the reason I could never watch The Office enough to like it and it’s the reason I didn’t like Meet the Parents. But the addition of the Focker family balances things out a bit and Dustin Hoffman, as father Focker, is superb. It is still a big, drawn out one-liner (drink everytime De Niro says “Focker”) but surprisingly inventive in places and the extra theme of liberals vs. conservatives adds weight to a largely farcical affair.
