Had my Level D Japanese test today, which they evilly sprung on us at the end of Monday night’s lesson. The worst thing was that rather than usual frantic one hour exam, it was a written kanji (chinese characters) test and a spoken test too! Needless to say, Tuesday was spent frantically trying to revise everything I’d ever learnt (on the train to work, from work, lunchtime, evening, in my sleep….). So how did it go? So-so or, as I learnt yesterday, ‘ma ma’ in Japanese. The kanji part was fine apart from three characters that I’d specifically been revising beforehand but forgot (d’oh!). 15 minutes of conversation with the cute Japanese teacher was excruciating but I think I got through it okay, apart from one question that I misunderstood completely and went off on a tangent about Wong Kar-wai movies. > There’s much still to learn.
