Get ready to Howl April 27, 2005

Several places are reporting that Miyazaki’s latest, Howl’s Moving Castle, will be hitting US screens in the summer and UK screens on September 30th (4 days after my birthday!). Based on an English children’s novel, the story follows a spoiled young girl who gets turned into an old woman by a witch’s curse. She takes up a post as housekeeper for the mysterious inventor Howl, in a castle which, well, moves. Reviews have been mixed. The consensus seems to be that it’s not Miyazaki’s best, but a Miyazaki movie is still head and shoulders above anything else. I for one am extremely excited, to the extent that I’ve already had the soundtrack for some time. It sounds melodious and I think the movie’s going to feel the same.
