About

Yoroshiku, and welcome to my blog!

Me

Despite my netname, I’m a twenty-something guy living in London, UK. I’m a science writer by profession, which I like very much, even if it does make my head hurt every now and again >_<

I keep this blog mostly for myself, as an outlet for my various thoughts, interests and obsessions. I’m a big film fan. I’m also a bit of a Japanophile (if you hadn’t already noticed ^^;), stemming from my childhood interest in anime and manga. That’s since expanded to include gunpla, drama, music, movies and the language itself, which I’ve been studying for the past four years (for the record I’ve passed 3kyu of the JLPT but my day-to-day ability still leaves a lot to be desired). And in the interest of fairness I obsess about Chinese and Korean stuff too.

Canned Memory

The name is inspired by my favourite line from my number one film, Chungking Express.

Cop 223: If memory can be canned, I hope it lasts forever. If an expiry date must be put on it, I hope it is a million years.

Who is Aya Sawada?

Aya is a character from Masami Tsuda’s manga Kare Kano, a genius writer with several published novels despite still being in high-school.

Who’s the kid in the profile pic?

Chiyo-chan!

That’s Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh, the smartest kid in her class, despite having skipped several grades to advance to high-school early. I just like the avatar.
