Fushimi-Inari

It’s taken almost two weeks to sort these out, but I’ve finally finished uploading, labelling and tagging all my photos from the Japan. There’s a ridiculous number – confirming my status as a typical oriental tourist. There are some good ones, but I’m definitely of the ’snap-first, sort later’ school of photography. Blame digital cameras. Anyway, I’ve started a Flickr collection here.

Hopefully, this will chronicle most of the trip. I’d still intend to write some longer blog entries, but given how busy I am at the moment, this may be a while in coming.

I will say though, it was hands down the best holiday I’ve ever had. Probably because I really really wanted to go.

Some say it is the fire in which we burn. Perhaps so, but it certainly flies. I’ll stop with the metaphors now.

I can’t believe a week ago I was in Shinjuku. Well, technically a week ago exactly I was on a plane over Russia somewhere…. Anyway, time passes quickly. It’s almost as if I never went on holiday… You know when an experience is so good it all seems like a dream?

Well, I’m back. And in smaller news, I’m now in charge! Within a day of my return, the news editor began her maternity leave. So I am now the acting news editor. Mwahaha! I can feel the power (and the stress, and the long hours….). Anyway, mini ‘woo-hoo’ for me.

And to end on a happy note, a big congratulations to Jakey and HJ. A beautiful baby girl now one month old. Welcome to the world Liberty.
